November 11, Veterans Day
November is Military Family Appreciation Month

Today is Veterans Day, a day to honor American Veterans - past and present. We thank you for your courage, loyalty and bravery in your service to our country; and honor the sacrifices of your families.

Army Families are important as the strength of our Soldiers comes from the strength of their Families. They are a vital connection between Soldiers and the Army's ability to remain strong. All Army families, Active, Guard, Reserve, survivors, veterans and retirees are giving back in this time of need. With thousands of Soldiers deployed, recognizing the daily sacrifices made by Army families has never been more important.

In an effort to serve military families, the USDA and the White House addressed the concerns and challenges of our military families. In August 2012, President Obama Signed an executive order to improve Access to mental health services for veterans, service members, and military Families.

Commitments of Various Government Agencies
USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) has made several commitments to serving the needs of military families and youth. 4-H National Headquarters will enhance their partnership with active, Guard and Reserve military service branches to support 4-H clubs and activities for military children and youth. In addition, NIFA will collaborate with the Departments of Defense, Health and Human Services and Education to help increase the availability of child care spaces available through the country for Guard and Reserve families.

These commitments bring the expertise and resources of the Land-Grant University and Cooperative Extension System - youth development professionals, research-based curricula and high quality training and technical assistance - to the child and youth programs of the military.
For Military Families
We pray for your loved ones safe return and
hope you will all be sitting down to a family dinner - real soon.
Thank you.
